Jack Russell Terrier – good judge of character
Jack Russell Terriers give a whole new meaning to the phrase “man’s best friend”. Owners would refer to them as pals and the perfect companion, indeed they are quite the characters.
Jack Russell Terriers are known for their playful spirit and intelligence. Curiosity is also part of their nature as well.
Easy to train for dog shows and the like, this breed of dog is small in size which makes it easy to groom them.
It is said that a young student by the name of John Russell from Oxford University is credited for breathing Jack Russell Terriers.
As the story goes, John Russell fell in love with his milkman’s white terrier which had unusual spots on its eyes and ears and the idea to breed these dogs came into existence.
The owner of a Jack Russell Terrier has to get used to their dog hunting around for stuff. They also have to constantly clean these dogs since because of the hunting qualities, they are frequently in the dirt looking for things.
And when these dogs are inside the house, they serve as protectors over rodents that may dwell there. With a Jack Russell Terrier in your home, rats would not stand a chance.
Jack Russell Terriers are good protective dogs in that they can sense when a stranger or someone is unsafe enough to bring into the home. And it’s because of this nature they are used as guard dogs. It is in this type of dog’s nature to also be aggressive. This aggression will only be displayed when these dogs feel threatened or they are of the opinion that their owner might be in danger.
As a family dog, Jack Russell Terriers are great with kids. But if they have been abused or mistreated at their first home, they can be a little bit more aggressive than they usually are.
