Scottish Terriers possesses an aloof demeanor.
They are fondly called “Scotties” and Scottish Terriers are dogs with short legs that originate from Britain.
Scottish Terriers are also of Scottish descent and some may say that they possess a very aloof demeanor.
Although the detailed facts about how Scottish Terriers came to be, there is one story that suggested that three of the dogs were sent to France’s Royal Highness as a gift from King James I of England.
In Britain the owners of Scottish Terrier dogs had them trained to hunt vermin which were attacking poultry farms. Some were even trained to trail the likes of foxes into their territory. This no doubt groomed them to be full of courage.
Scottish Terriers are short and cute dogs that stand at 10 inches. They possess a short thick coat of hair and they are mostly fray, black or sandy in color.
With Scottish Terriers, they will easily pick up all the moods of their owner and well as the rest of of the family. They also like it when they are praised in a regular basis especially when they have done something for which the owner is proud.
The downside owning a Scottish Terrier though is that the owner may very well have to spend a lot of money at the vet with them as these dogs are prone to several health issues.
Some of these health issues include skin problems, epilepsy, the inherited Von Willibrand’s disease and problems with their jaw bone. Some more serious health problems that the Scottie can face is cerebellar abiotrophy, which is a disease that would make them lose their coordination.
Scottish Terriers need extra special care in the grooming department and this is because of the texture of their coats. Sometimes the coating may need to be trimmed and the dead hairs removed.
